So, last weekend I had the opportunity to attend my first book signing, MASE16. It was was at Foxwoods Casino in CT and I can't express how awesome it was. It was my first "Bigger" signing so I didn't have many expectations, just to meet people and have a good time. Well, I want to go back!
I had a blogger, from Amazeballs Books, come to my table to meet me and get a signed copy of my book. I gave her the biggest hug and probably seemed like a creep but I was so excited to meet her! Another writer, who I fan girl over and read EVERYTHING of hers, came and bought my book because she "heard about it". Yeah, I think I was shaking I was so excited. (haha)
So, sometimes, I know authors wonder if it's worth going to book signings, especially when you're a newer writer. I'd say yes. Even if you don't sell all your books, you network, exchange books with other authors. I met and hung out with some amazingly supportive people that I know will be lifelong friends and help me with my craft.
Us authors aren't in competition with each other. We need to support each other, and that is exactly what last weekend showed me. I look forward to future events, hopefully getting to meet the lovely ladies at Hot Tree Publishing in 2017. I have some other updates but I'll save that for another day.
Thanks for reading!
